Day 01
Edinburgh
Roll-out from Edinburgh. Cold start, quiet streets and the strange calm that comes before something this big actually begins.
“You can't ride 1,800 miles today. You can ride today's miles.”

The Longest Round
1,800+ miles. Four stages. Two seas. One purpose.
The challenge
The Longest Round is an endurance journey from Scotland to Morocco, undertaken by former IBF World Middleweight Champion Darren Barker and the team around him, raising money and awareness for the suicide prevention charity CALM. Mitch is part of that team and is documenting the road as it happens.
The challenge is also undertaken in memory of Ricky Hatton, a CALM ambassador and an important voice around mental health.
Every mile is in aid of CALM — Campaign Against Living Miserably.

The Longest Round exists to raise money for CALM and to support suicide prevention work across the UK.
Just as importantly, it exists to make difficult conversations a bit more ordinary — to reduce stigma, and to remind people that reaching out, early and honestly, matters.
It continues a message that Ricky Hatton, a CALM ambassador, spoke about openly and helped many people hear.
If you're struggling, CALM's helpline and webchat are free, anonymous and open every day. thecalmzone.net

The man at the front
Former IBF World Middleweight Champion
Darren is the reason this exists. He's the one riding the length of Britain, then swimming the Channel, then riding across a continent, then swimming from Europe into Africa.
Mitch is part of the team and the journey around the challenge — documenting the road, the setbacks, the good days and the people the team meets along the way.
What you notice quickly is how little of it looks like sport. Most of it is logistics, food, weather and getting back on the bike when nobody would blame you for not.
Mitch × Darren
The content from this journey is about what happens between the big moments — conversations, humour, fatigue, setbacks, roadside stops, meals, training, travel, and the people met along the way. The reality of taking on something this large, filmed as it happens.
